“Millennial pink’ is the color of now – but what exactly is it? So, pink comes in a lot of shades, from the merest hint of a blush (think red sock in whitewashing) to full on fuschia (see ill-advised holiday cocktails) it covers a wide spectrum. Right now though there’s only one shade to be seen, say hello to Millennial Pink. No, it’s not some edgy new sex act that you’ll need a day off work and a salt bath to get over, instead, it’s a cool, don’t-care, unisex version of the color. It’s absolutely everywhere and even if you think you’ve never heard of it, you’ve definitely already seen it, many times a day.
What kind of pink is it?
Technically it’s pink with the blue taken out or blush with a beige tint or is it beige with a blush in. As anyone who has asked their hairdresser for ‘sort of caramelly blonde highlights’ and ended up with ginger stripes a 1997 Geri Halliwell would consider OTT will know, describing colors is tricky.
Where did it come from?
The return of pink was still a bit too girly for the androgyny seeking fashion-forward millennial. A ludicrous name admittedly, anyone else thinking mucky pup rather than muted pink, Moniker aside it was the perfect, just- pink -enough shade that ticked off all the key boxes of toning well with greenhouse plants, working with 99% of Instagram filters and looking cute on you.
